A letter has been signed by almost 2,000 former Justice Department (DOJ) officials demanding that Attorney General William Barr resign. The reason being they claim Barr enacted improper intervention in the case against Michael Flynn, a former Trump national security advisor.
Just last week, a big bombshell was unleashed. The DOJ dropped charges in Flynn’s criminal case, which was brought on by him pleading guilting to lying to the FBI surrounding his interactions with the former Russian ambassador.
I knew there were a lot of Justice Department swamp rats, but I didn't know there were over 2,000 of them! https://t.co/kl7ttv9Nj5

The letter, which was organized by the group ‘Protect Democracy’ mainly signed by the former arguably corrupt career officials in the Justice Department, makes accusations of Barr siding with President Trump in “political interference in the Department’s law enforcement decisions.”
Barr Doesn’t Back Down
“Attorney General Barr’s repeated actions to use the Department as a tool to further President Trump’s personal and political interests have undermined any claim to the deference that courts usually apply to the Department’s decisions about whether or not to prosecute a case,” reads the letter.
In December 2017, Flynn pleaded guilty but asked in January to have his guilty plea withdrawn. He alleges the government’s “bad faith, vindictiveness, and breach of the plea agreement,” as being the reason.
FBI Versus the DOJ
A federal prosecutor asked in a motion that the single count of making a false statement to the FBI be dismissed. The claim involved the government decided that Flynn’s FBI interview “was untethered to, and unjustified by, the FBI’s counterintelligence investigation.”
“As you recall, in January, General Flynn moved to withdraw his plea, and also alleged misconduct by the government. And at that time, I asked a very seasoned U.S. attorney, who had spent ten years as an FBI agent and ten years as a career prosecutor, Jeff Jensen, from St. Louis, to come in and take a fresh look at this whole case. And he found some additional material. And last week, he came in and briefed me and made a recommendation that we dismiss the case, which I fully agreed with, as did the U.S. attorney in D.C. So we’ve moved to dismiss the case,” Barr said in a CBS News interview last week.

Barr relayed that he is in favor of having the charges dropped based on Jensen’s review. U.S. Attorney Timothy Shea said there is new evidence found in Jensen’s analysis that the department said this concluded the Flynn investigation illegitimate at the time the interview occurred.
Deep State Anger at DOJ
The letter is just the latest in Deep State anger when justice prevails. The reversal in Flynn’s case means that their deceit is being uncovered once instance at a time.
“I also think it’s sad that nowadays these partisan feelings are so strong that people have lost any sense of justice,” Barr said in CBS interview. “And the groups that usually worry about civil liberties and making sure that there are proper procedures followed and standards set seem to be ignoring it and willing to destroy people’s lives and see great injustices done.”
Based on their track record, it’s safe to say that the swamp rats probably won’t go down easily. Despite the light shown on the corruption the Swamp engages in, justice has been thwarted so far in Hillary Clinton’s email case, Barack Obama’s spying, Russia Gate, and several other instances.
But I do love the smell of trembling swamp rats in the morning. Hopefully, justice will keep being served.
