Antony Blinken dropped in to Riyadh hoping to beg the Arabs for help. Egypt and Saudi Arabia would rather help Palestine but they have frosty relations with Hamas. Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman runs around with a perpetual Cheshire grin but he was actually laughing at Blinky. Washington Post calls it “stiff resistance.”
Arabs snub Blinken
Secretary of State Antony Blinken got a seriously frosty reception from the Arabs on Sunday, October 15. Blinky spent hours banging his head on the wall, “trying to convince Egypt’s Abdel Fatah El-Sisi and Saudi Arabian Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman to embrace Washington’s view of the Israel-Hamas conflict.”
He knew he was going to have an uphill battle because they have “deep public sympathies for the Palestinian cause in the respective countries.”
After they politely and diplomatically handed Blinky his a$$, he poked his head out to tell reporters something that would make them go away. “I heard a lot of good ideas about some of the things we need to do moving forward,” Blinken related to the press “following his meetings with the two leaders.”

He admits he didn’t get anywhere with the Arabs. “Differences of views emerged immediately on Israel’s right to wage a massive offensive in Gaza, which both Sisi and Mohammed raised concerns about.”
Joe Biden’s handlers have Blinky “hopscotching the Middle East.” The goal is convincing the Arabs “to condemn Hamas’ horrific assault in Israel and refrain from stoking domestic unrest in response to Israel’s devastating bombing campaign in Gaza.”
The problem is that they’re rooting for Hamas and condemning Israel for annexing Gaza in the first place, back in 1947. The recent days of violence have tallied up “the death of more than 1,300 Israelis and more than 2,600 Palestinians.”
Make him wait
Blinky urgently jetted off to Riyadh where he expected to meet with MBS Saturday evening. Instead, the Crown Prince put a softball size rock of hash in his hookah and totally ignored the American diplomat.
Just because Blinky was in a hurry to wrangle with the Arabs didn’t make it his crisis. With a grinning apology and a ravenous appetite, the Prince met Blinken for breakfast.
“Once the meeting began, Mohammed ‘stressed‘ the need to stop the military operations ‘that claimed the lives of innocent people‘ — a reference to Israel’s offensive — and lift the ‘siege of Gaza‘ that has left the Palestinian territory without water, electricity or fuel, according to the Saudi summary of the meeting.” Like that’s going to work.

Blinky couldn’t leave Riyadh fast enough. He doesn’t get along with Arabs at all.
After Blinken’s debacle, Huffington Post got their hands on a leaked memo. He’s not doing much better with the Jews, even though he claims the heritage. Blinky sent a cable home warning that the Israelis were a little touchy about the way we’ve been throwing statements around casually.
State Department officials must immediately stop saying such misleading phrases as “de-escalation/ceasefire,” “end to violence/bloodshed” and “restoring calm.” That’s because there won’t be any of those things recommended by current U.S. policy no matter how much it angers the Arabs. That’s not going to help get Egypt to open up their border gate to let Americans through, though.
