CNN Host Concedes, Dems are ‘Annoying and Offensive’

CNN’s Van Jones responded to the poor performance of Democrats in the November 2 election by remarking that Democrats are coming across to large swathes of the country as “annoying,” “offensive” and “out of touch.” He is apparently just now starting to figure this out. The rest of his party thus far seems to be reacting to the election results with more blame for the voters than for the things they have done to anger those voters.

Democrats dismissed voter concerns

It is fair to say at this point that the debate around public school curricula and critical race theory was the deciding issue of the Virginia race.

As Republican Glenn Youngkin soared in the polls after he presented himself as a champion for the concerned parents of Virginia, Democrats attempted to dismiss the issue entirely.

Former President Barack Obama appeared in Virginia to deride the concerns of these parents as being representative of right wing media propaganda and a variety of unserious politics.

This is exactly what Van Jones is referring to when he discusses the perception of Democrats as being out of touch. CNN, like much of the media, has more commonly fumed about Youngkin’s success and denied that critical race theory is a serious issue.

Jones, to be clear, is not conceding that Virginia parents have legitimate grievances. His aim is to convince Democrats to not remain in denial about the fact that much of the country does not share CNN and Barack Obama’s view of what a serious political issue is.

It should be clear to anyone who wants to win elections for the Democrats in the future that this patronizing tone and insistence on deciding what a real issue is will not do the party any favors when it comes time to win over average Americans.

CNN is part of the problem

Jones’ assertion that Democrats are too stuck in their echo chambers to give any serious consideration to what the rest of the country is thinking is nothing new.

CNN and the rest of the mainstream media just seem to be unable to help themselves. They seemingly count on having enough mindless drones who will vote for Democrats automatically to carry future elections.

They do indeed have no shortage of mindless drones but if Virginia and New Jersey are any indication of things to come then relying on demography and population density alone to tell them which elections they will win is a failing strategy.

The reality which Van Jones at least sees is that white people still make up a majority of the electorate in this country, and that maybe demonizing them at every turn is not the best way to secure their votes.

White women, and particularly white mothers, provided the crucial votes which gave Youngkin the election. Most Democrats are responding to this development by doubling down on their hatred for white people.

Democrats and their friendly media, including CNN, are not simply coming across as “annoying.” Their attacks on parents and their children are driving growing numbers of Americans to see them less as an offensive nuisance and more as an existential evil which threatens the future of this country.
