Donald Trump just got some good news on the confirmation front from Senator Lindsey Graham (R-S.C.).
While I am sure Trump considers Graham an ally in the Senate, he has not always been on the same page as Trump, and he clearly had reservations about some of Trump’s nominees.
For the three most controversial nominees, Trump just got the green light from Graham.
I Will Vote Yes
Graham definitely had some concerns about Kash Patel, Robert F. Kennedy, Jr., and more so about Tulsi Gabbard.
After he had his meeting with Tulsi, like many Senators, he was still wavering on her.
Graham had stated, “We’ve had policy differences. I know her, I like her, you know. She wanted to stay in the JCPOA. I thought that was a mistake.”
Tulsi had a very good confirmation hearing, however, far more prepared and serious than she appeared to be in her private meetings.
Now, Graham has told the media that he will be voting “yes” on all three nominees when they come up for confirmation.
That is good news for Trump and the nominees because the GOP has very few votes to spare, and we know there could be two to three moderates who will not endorse these nominations.
This could very much come down to Vance needing to cast the tiebreaker, which he has already had to do once.
I am feeling more confident with Gabbard, and while Patel is now my first choice, I think he will do exactly what needs to be done to get rid of the cancer in the agency.
Kennedy, well, he still has a lot of convincing to do and I have a feeling if he does get confirmed, it will be because Vance broke a tie.
