DHS Secretary Mayorkas wants everyone to believe this administration is actually doing something about the border.
So, he held a presser and made it be knows that the border is closed.
That, of course, is laughable.
While he was saying that, we have about 10,000 people coming across the border on a daily basis.
Stop Lying
Mayorkas promised to drop the hammer for people coming over the border without a legal path to asylum.
This, of course, is a complete joke because he has been saying that for about two years.
All the while, cases being denied asylum are still being free to the country’s interior.
Mayorkas stated, “The border is not open. Starting tonight, people who arrive at the border without using a lawful pathway will be presumed ineligible for asylum.
“We have 24,000 Border Patrol Agents and Officers at the Southwest Border and have surged thousands of troops and contractors, and over a thousand asylum officers to help enforce our laws. Do not believe the lies of smugglers.
“People who do not use available lawful pathways to enter the U.S. now face tougher consequences, including a minimum five-year ban on re-entry and potential criminal prosecution.
“Together with our partners throughout the federal government and Western Hemisphere, we are prepared for this transition.”
Actions speak louder than words, and we all know what has been happening at the border.
