The White House briefing room got a little spicy.
Karine Jean-Pierre made the mistake of taking an additional question as she was wrapping things up.
She would regret it almost immediately.
Getting Ugly
Irish Prime Minister Leo Varadkar came into town for a photo op with Joe Biden.
When a visiting head of state is in town, it is customary to hold a joint press conference.
The problem in this administration is that Joe Biden rarely, if ever, takes questions from the press when this occurs.
That is starting get under everyone’s skin just a bit.
To that point, a reporter asked KJP, “Can you say why not and whether that might be added to the schedule tomorrow?
“This is kind of becoming a pattern with a lot of the world leaders who are coming to the White House.”
Jean-Pierre definitely looked like she was about to lose it, then she took a breath before responding.
She stated, “I’ve spoken to this many times… I’ve brought it up many times and I gave an explanation that these are diplomatic conversations that happen with the countries that are visiting, and it is something that is decided in that way.
“You’re going to have an opportunity, or your colleagues are going to have an opportunity, to ask questions during the pool spray at the Oval that happens every time a head of state visits.
“So that is an opportunity to be able to pose a question to the president or the head of state that is visiting at the White House on that day.”
Another reporter shouted out, “But he never answers questions during those periods.
KJP responded, “That’s not true. He’s answered questions.”
She continued on spewing more rhetoric to defend her puppet boss…
I will let you guess if Joe Biden took questions on Friday during the media events, and I will even give you a hint… the correct answer has two letters.
