Donald Trump has made it quite clear that he looks at those involved in the January 6 rioting and election schemes as patriots.
He will tell you to this day that he won that election and the Dems rigged it against him.
One of the women who was trying to help Trump prove that just found out she is going to spend the next nine years of her life behind bars.
Guilty, as Charged
We continue to see people who supported Trump in his efforts to overturn the results of the 2020 election lives ruined.
Tina Peters, a county clerk in Colorado, is the latest.
Peters was just sentenced to nine years behind bars for giving someone else access to voting machines for the purpose of trying to prove that the election was rigged against Trump.
The individual to which she gave access is believed to be part of My Pillow’s Mike Lindell’s circle.
Lindell also has a stack of legal problems as well as financial issues, now facing bankruptcy after having a net worth of millions.
Peters tried to defend herself, stating, “I’ve never done anything with malice to break the law. I’ve only wanted to serve the people of Mesa County.”
Mesa County District Attorney Daniel Rubenstein argued, “Ms. Peters has demonstrated repeatedly that she does not think she did anything wrong.
“She submitted a statement to the court in the pre-sentence investigation report, giving excuses, giving justifications, but never once acknowledging that she did something wrong, that this was not the way to handle this.
“What does every 12-step program start with? It starts with acknowledging you have a problem, and she has not done that, and there’s no purpose in rehabilitation for somebody who does not think they did anything wrong.”
District Court Judge Matthew Barrett excoriated her, stating, “You are no hero. You’re a charlatan who used and is still using your prior position in office to peddle a snake oil that’s been proven to be junk time and time again.
“Your lies are well documented, and these convictions are serious. I’m convinced you’d do it all over again if you could.”
Her only hope at this point is that Donald Trump wins and offers to commute her sentence or offer her a pardon.
If Trump does that, however, he opens himself up to impeachment again for having offered insurrectionists aid and comfort.
