A suspect is in custody after authorities say she led police on a chase that involved a shooting and ended with a barricade situation. The suspect has been identified as Severa Leann Aguilar, 39. Augilar has been arrested for a parole violation warrant. Police say that more charges are anticipated.
Police arrest shooting suspect in Odessa Texas
According to the Odessa Police Department, an officer was conducting a routine traffic stop when the suspect fled and evaded officers. The suspect was later found in an alley, and a foot chase began. Shots were fired during the chase, but no one was injured.
The woman then entered a home that wasn’t her own. The family inside the home was able to get out. Police say that the woman was arrested after barricading herself inside the home for a short time. The Texas Rangers will be investigating the shooting.

Crime is up in Odessa Texas
On August 31, 2019, a mass shooting occurred in the West Texas cities of Midland and Odessa when a gunman shot multiple people from a vehicle. Eight people were killed, including the perpetrator, and 25 people were injured, including three police officers. It was the third major mass shooting to take place in the United States in August 2019, along with the El Paso Walmart shooting and the Dayton shooting.
Authorities identified the shooter as 36-year-old Seth Aaron Ator from Lorena, Texas, who had been fired from his job the morning of the shooting spree. He was shot and killed by police outside a movie theater in Odessa.
The shooter killed seven people, ranging in age from 15 to 57. Seventeen more were hospitalized for injuries. Among the injured were three police: a Texas state trooper, a Midland police officer, and an Odessa police officer. The youngest victim is a wounded 17-month-old child. One of the dead was a USPS postal worker, age 29, who had been driving the postal service truck Ator hijacked.
