When Rep. Mike Johnson (R-LA) was in the election for Speaker of the House, he did not directly receive an endorsement from Donald Trump.
However, in a Truth Social post, Johnson was the only one named by Trump, so the implication was clear that Trump wanted him in that role.
Now, Johnson is repaying the favor by endorsing Trump in the 2024 primary race.
Endorsing Trump
During the interview, Johnson made it sound as though he had already endorsed Trump, stating, “I have endorsed him wholeheartedly.”
There is no record, however, of Johnson openly endorsing Trump in the primary before this interview.
Johnson made it quite clear that he is behind Trump all the way.
He stated, “I’m all in for President Trump.
“I expect he’ll be our nominee, and we have to make [President Joe] Biden a one-term president.”
For those who do not like Trump’s personality, he stated, “It can’t be about personalities, it’s got to be about policies and principles.”
Johnson is already on rocky ground with a significant number of Republicans after passing a temporary spending measure that saw more Democrats vote in favor of it than Republicans.
He made it through this bill, but if he continues to bow to the Democrats, his time as Speaker will be ending very soon.
