The Supreme Court is all over the place right now.
If nothing else, the court is proving that it is not rigged to purposely crank out rulings that will favor conservative causes.
Dems will never admit that, of course, only making noise when the court issues a ruling they do not like.
Not Happening
The latest blow to the right by the court was regarding a major case for big oil.
Exxon and Chevron were hoping the court would take a case centered around climate change and penalties being suggested for energy companies that do not cave the green agenda.
The appeal the court was denied in a 7-1 vote.
The court’s members believe that the lower courts had not properly analyzed the lawsuit, so it will get kicked back to them for further review.
Theodore J. Boutrous Jr., counsel for Chevron Corporation, was not happy with the ruling, but he remained confident.
Boutrous stated, “We are confident the pending climate lawsuits in the U.S. will ultimately be dismissed. Climate change is an issue of national and global magnitude that requires a coordinated federal policy response, not a disjointed patchwork of lawsuits in state courts across multiple states.
“These wasteful lawsuits in state courts will do nothing to advance global climate solutions, nothing to reduce emissions, and nothing to address climate-related impacts.”
In case you were curious, the sole dissenting vote was cast by Justice Kavanaugh.
