FBI Director Christopher Wray, Lands In the Hot Seat

The so-called director of the FBI was well prepared for his senate grilling. He knew ahead of time that Charles Grassley, for one, would be focused like a laser on why the bureau hates conservatives so much. At the same time, Democrats including Hunter Biden can do no wrong. Christopher Wray ducked, bobbed and weaved with consummate skill. When things really started to get interesting, he suddenly had a plane to catch.

FBI Director ducks responsibility

The ferret-faced director of the Federal Bureau of Instigation weaseled from the witness stand on Thursday that the things Senators were “concerned” about do indeed seem “deeply troubling.” He just can’t say anything about that. Fixing it? Well, the FBI isn’t sure there is anything to fix. They are, he promises, looking into it.

Nobody seems to remember how they got set up in the first place. J. Edgar Hoover had an extensive collection of blackmail files on everybody important. There’s no reason to believe Christopher Wray wouldn’t follow in Hoover’s illustrious footsteps.

The big question from the Republican side was how Hunter Biden could still be walking around free without any pending criminal charges at all. That’s when, New York Post writes, Wray cut “the Q&A short by claiming he needed to catch a flight.” Not so fast, Chuck Grassley jumped in, noting “Wray wasn’t flying commercial.

No matter how much Grassley berated the FBI head honcho for not picking up his raprod and telling the pilot to stand by, he wouldn’t do it. Wray wanted out of there. He probably had the jet scheduled as his excuse for a planned escape. All he had to do was delay answering anything interesting until he hit the “well, sorry guys, gotta go” stage. Whether intentional or not, that’s what happened.

Wray couldn’t completely escape questions like the one from Louisiana Senator John Kennedy regarding “whistleblower claims against” Tim Thibault, assistant special agent in charge of the DC field office, and supervisory intelligence analyst Brian Auten.

Grassley’s whistleblowers told them that Thibault and Auten “covered up derogatory information about Mr. Hunter Biden while working for the FBI.” That was easy to answer. “I want to be very careful not to interfere with ongoing personnel matters,” Wray ducked. “I should say that when I read the letter that describes the kinds of things that you’re talking about, I found it deeply troubling.” He “should” say that, so he did. He doesn’t mean it though.

Which side are agents on?

What about all those social media posts, Kennedy hammered. Thibault had all sorts of nasty things to say about Republicans. Things “which resembled the anti-GOP attacks by FBI employees Peter Strzok and Lisa Page during the bureau’s investigation of possible Russian collusion with Donald Trump’s 2016 presidential campaign.” That seems like a pattern to the senators. The letter Grassley wrote recently claimed “Auten and Thibault allegedly were involved in ‘a scheme‘ to ‘undermine derogatory information connected to Hunter Biden by falsely suggesting it was disinformation.

Auten was the one who “opened an assessment which was used by an FBI Headquarters team to improperly discredit negative Hunter Biden information as disinformation and caused investigative activity to cease.” His whisleblowers have proof that “verified and verifiable derogatory information on Hunter Biden was falsely labeled as disinformation.

Thibault not only “tried to kill off a valid avenue of investigation,” he did his best to drive a stake through it’s heart, too. “In October 2020, an avenue of additional derogatory Hunter Biden reporting was ordered closed at the direction of ASAC Thibault,” Senator Kennedy quizzed. “When all of the reporting was either verified or verifiable via criminal search warrants.

Not only that, “Thibault allegedly ordered the matter closed without providing a valid reason as required by FBI guidelines.” After that, he “attempted to improperly mark the matter in FBI systems so that it could not be opened in the future.” That sounds pretty shady to him and most Americans. Not Chris Wray.

Do you know how this looks to the American people?” Kennedy glared. “I will tell you that what you’re describing is not representative of the FBI,” Wray dodged. “Where I see patriots working their tails off with tremendous integrity and objectivity.

Darn skippy, Grassley agrees, those are his whistleblowers. It’s the remnants of the Hillary Clinton Fan Club who the senators worry about. The ones which weaponized the bureau and Justice Department against a political candidate. A plot which then morphed into a failed coup attempt. Followed by a highly controversial and contested “election.”
