New Justice Kavanaugh Revelations Come to Light

The left just can’t leave Supreme Court Justice Brett Kavanaugh alone. So-called “new information” has led to demands from Democrats to reopen the investigation into Kavanaugh.

“New” Information

Democrats are reviving the Kavanaugh allegations thanks to complaints from Kavanaugh accuser Christine Blasey Ford’s lawyers, and a letter sent by Democrat Senators Sheldon Whitehouse and Chris Coons in 2019.

Blasey Ford’s lawyers, Debra Katz and Lisa Banks, sent out a statement complaining about the so-called “new information” contained in the letter. The statement read:

“The letter from the Department of Justice, released by Senator Sheldon Whitehouse’s office today, confirms what we knew: The FBI’s investigation into Dr. Christine Blasey Ford’s serious allegations about Justice Brett M. Kavanaugh’s sexual misconduct was a sham and a major institutional failure. Not only did the FBI refuse to interview Dr. Ford or the corroborators listed in our letter to FBI Director Wray, it failed to act on the over 4,500 tips it received about then-nominee Kavanaugh. Instead, it handed the information over to the White House, allowing those who supported Kavanaugh to falsely claim that the FBI found no wrongdoing.”

The letter revealed that the FBI tip line for the investigation into Kavanaugh had received over 4,500 tips. The left and their allies in the mainstream media immediately began screaming about this so-called “new information.”

Media Frenzy

Now, the mainstream media and the left are trying to claim that because the tips were given to the Office of White House Counsel, the information “may have been dismissed or underinvestigated by the Trump administration as it sought to install Kavanaugh on the court,” as Politico wrote.

Alongside those claims, Reuters reported that “Seven Democratic Senators on Thursday said that newly released materials show the FBI failed to fully investigate sexual misconduct allegations against U.S. Supreme Court Justice Brett Kavanaugh when he was nominated to the court in 2018.”

The New York Times joined in on attempting to revive the smear campaign, with reporter Kate Kelly writing: “The letter left uncertain whether the FBI itself followed up on the most compelling leads.”

Of course, the mainstream media and the Democrats have conveniently left out some important information about these tips that completely negates their concerns.

Debunked

National Review’s John McCormack stepped up to destroy the left’s claims, pointing out that they omitted key details that would show that a number of tips were frivolous.

“The Times’ report leaves out three key details that would have helped both to clear the air and to clear Kavanaugh’s name,” McCormack began.

The first key detail left out, according to McCormack, was that “the FBI’s supplemental investigation was always supposed to be limited in time and scope.”

A bipartisan agreement reached by the Senate limited the FBI’s supplemental background investigation to one week, and also agreed that the only allegations that would be investigated had to be “current” and “credible.” This agreement was designed to prevent the investigation from turning into a fishing expedition.

“A summary of all the tips the FBI received was available to all 100 U.S. senators,” McCormack’s second point read.

If this information was actually new, it would not have been available until now. If the information was actually concerning to these Democrats, they would have brought it up before now.

Mike Davis, who was the chief counsel for nominations on the Senate Judiciary Committee during Kavanaugh’s confirmation hearing, spoke out about the Democrats’ sudden outrage.

“If there was anything that caught their attention, they could have flagged it for further investigation,” Davis told National Review.

McCormack’s third point states: “We have good reason to believe that none of the supposedly ‘compelling leads’ were actually compelling at all.”

Mike Davis also had something to say about this, noting that “Every whack-job in the world called into that thing. That’s why there were 4,500 [tips]. Grassley’s team went through the entire tip-line. It was nonsense.”

McCormack also further elaborated on this point, writing:

“New York Times reporters Kate Kelly and Robin Pogrebin spent nearly a year investigating Kavanaugh for a book they published in September 2019. The only new allegation they reported was patently absurd: The two reporters hyped a new allegation that, while at Yale, Kavanaugh was allegedly standing around naked at a party when Kavanaugh’s ‘friends’ allegedly ‘pushed his penis into the hand of a female student.’ The alleged female victim in this incident had no recollection of it.’”

If Democrats, including the above-mentioned New York Times reporters, were unable to find anything concerning enough to report on in the years since Kavanaugh’s confirmation hearing, then there is nothing to find. Their attempts to revive the investigation are nothing more than a partisan witch-hunt designed to distract the public from the abysmal failure of the current government, and to attempt to find a new boogeyman since Donald Trump has been completely deplatformed.
