Just three days in office, and we are already seeing Trump’s efforts at the border pay off.
There were times during the Biden administration when crossings were steadily in the 6,000 to 8,000 range, yet Trump is already under 1,000 per day.
Biden’s best numbers were towards the end of the administration, but Trump’s first three days already had more than 1,000 fewer crossings than Biden during his last three days.
Stay Out
Trump and Tom Homan, Trump’s border czar, made it very clear that illegals would not be tolerated.
Trump has already approved moving more troops to the border to seal it, as well as discussing a plan to move as many as 10,000 more troops to the border to support those efforts.
Homan and ICE are already launching snatch-and-grab operations to remove criminal illegals from the country, having arrested more than 300 on the first day in office, with a total that is now up over 1,000.
But the news gets significantly better.
Now, keep in mind, this is the slow season for illegal immigration, so these numbers are likely to rise in coming months, but Trump is off to a great start.
During Biden’s last three days in office, there were nearly 4,000 crossings. During Trum’s first three days in office, there were just over 2,500 crossings, with less than 800 happening on the third day.
If we look at 2022, Biden averages over 180,000 crossings per month, and Trump is now on a pace to have less than 30,000 in his first three days.
So, think about that… at this rate, it would only take two months of crossings under Biden to equal a full year under Trump.
As I stated above, this is the slow season, so I would expect the numbers to increase over the spring, but I still think Trump can keep daily crossings under 2,000 a day, and that would be monumental in terms of what Biden was allowing.
